Rachel Foster is the main character in The Billionaire Next Door. She also appears in The Bastard Billionaire. Rachel is originally from Ohio, where her parents still live, before moving to Chicago. She formerly worked as a marketing executive but soon quit after being cheated out of a promotion by her then-boyfriend Shaun. Throughout the story she works as a bartender at The Andromeda before landing a marketing position at Crane Hotels.

Her Family
Rachel seems very close to both her parents, especially her mother, with whom she regularly talks to on the phone. she really wishes to make them proud as she knew that they had big expectations for their daughter who is 'making it big in the city'.
Tag Crane
Rachel met Tag while house-sitting for Oliver at Crane Tower, where he also lives and (discretely) owns. Tag defended her from a rude neighbour and helped her take care of Adonis. Although there was an awkward moment between them where he thought she was a hooker, due to her poor choice of words, they eventually grow closer. The relationship which was supposed to be a fling, partly because of Tag's playboy habits and Rachel's unreadiness to start a new relationship after Shaun, eventually grows more intense. This is evident when Tag brought her to the ice cream parlor where his late mother used to take him and his brothers and when he introduced her to his best friends, Geena and Lucas. Tag freaked out when Rachel asked him to go to her cousin's wedding with her, so he declined. To Rachel, this was proof that there was never supposed to be anything serious between them, so she decided to break up with him as she didn't want to be the only one falling in love. She leaves for Ohio, where Tag later follows her to apologize. She apologized for overreacting, he apologized for refusing to grow up and owning up to his feelings for her and they reconciled. They got engaged in The Bastard Billionaire.
Shaun
Shaun is Rachel's ex-boyfriend and former co-worker. He was often rude and condescending to her, which she had gotten used to until he betrayed her by taking credit for a project that was 70% her idea and snatched the promotion she was targeting. He was very demeaning towards her, even going as far as saying how 'unsatisfying' she is in bed, causing her to become severely insecure.
Bree
Bree is Rachel's best friend and co-worker at The Andromeda. She is also Rachel's roommate. They are very close and she is the first close friend she met after moving to Chicago.
