Margaret "Maggie" Walker is the main character in Steal Me. She is a waitress at The Darby diner and an aspiring author.

Waitressing at The Darby isn't exactly Maggie Walker's dream job, it pays the bills and gives her time to work on her true crime novel. -Character Description
She grew up with only her father and brother since her mother left when she was 12. Her father has never been the same since then, and started to drink. The court even sent him to rehab several times and they barely speak. She was never close to her younger brother, but last she heard of him he was living in the streets in San Francisco and didn't want any help.
She used to live in Jersey with her ex-husband, Eddie, whom she is now trying to get away from. She is now living in New York with her dog, Duchess.
She met the Morettis in The Darby. She and Anthony have a mutual crush, but they are not able to act upon it, until he starts working on the case of a criminal named "Smiley" and brings a photo of him in The Darby : she recognizes Smiley as her ex husband. He needs her help to catch Eddie before it gets out of hands and wants to protect her. She eventually helps taking down Smiley and gets a little fame out of it.
