Different users have access to different functions of Chapters - Interactive Stories Wiki. While anyone can do most things on the site, including reading and editing, local staff can access a few additional functions.[1]
User groups[]
Bots (short for "robot") are an automated process, programme, or script that assists a user in performing time-consuming or repetitive edits and actions on a community. When a bot runs in quick succession, the recent changes log can be overtaken, making it difficult to spot more significant edits by regular users. Giving an account a "bot flag" hides these edits from the list of recent changes (although any editor can still choose to see them by clicking "Show bots").
Rollbackers can use the rollback link on diff pages, the user's contributions page, or the list of recent changes and undo bad edits with a single click.
Discussions moderators (also "thread moderator") can access additional tools for managing conversations around the wiki:
- Removing and restoring threads and replies by any user
- Closing and reopening replies
- Deleting blog comments
- Editing and deleting article comments
- Moderating the Discussions feature
Content moderators can access additional tools to moderate specific parts of the community:
- Editing and moving fully protected pages
- Deleting and undeleting pages and files
- Editing and moving protected files
- Rollbacking edits
- Protecting and unprotecting pages
- Patrolling pages if the community has the recent changes patrol feature enabled
Administrators (also "sysop" or "admin") are trusted users with access to:
- All privileges from both the Content Moderator and Thread Moderator groups
- Blocking users from editing and other actions
- Granting and revoking the Rollback and Discussions Moderator rights
- Editing the community's skin and format
- Editing whitelisted MediaWiki pages
Bureaucrats have the ability to change or assign user rights, as well as block and unblock users, so this right is generally used in addition to the administrator group.
Current staff[]
Administrators[]
Applications[]
Users who show diligence in growing the wiki and a lasting interest in its topic are welcome to apply and join Chapters - Interactive Stories Wiki's local staff.
- Only users who have been active on the wiki for 6 months or more are eligible.
- Users who have been previously blocked in the past may be automatically rejected for consideration.
- Any user can recommend another user, which can be discussed publicly by the community via Discussions.
- Promotions will be approved or denied by the active admin team (i.e., active on the wiki in the last 60 days). If a consensus cannot be reached, then a trial term length can be set or a smaller role assigned.
Demotions[]
Local staff who have been inactive for more than 60 days may be demoted to ensure everyone on the team is actively helping and moderating the wiki. For admins, this period can be extended up to a year or more[2] depending on the user's previous contributions and history on the wiki.
If you are going to be absent from the wiki for a prolonged period of time, please reach out to an active admin and let them know.
